Where can I get my car detailed? Are there any mobile detailers that can come to me?

Just about any detail shop can clean your car. Detailing is much more thorough and safer (and more expensive) than going through a drive-through car wash, but doing these on some sort of schedule is an excellent way to keep your Tesla shiny and looking like new. Most of these references (again, all based on member feedback on Facebook, with no implied recommendation from the club) will come to you.

On the Spot Mobile Detailing has gotten good member recommendations. They have locations in Annapolis Junction and Frederick.

Reda’s Mobile Detailing is based in Westminster.

Jay Monty has gotten good member feedback, as has DR Details DMV.

Best Care Mobile Detailing is another option.

Xact Detail, Enhance Auto Care, and HP Mobile Detailing have come up in the past as well.

Cliff Dewey’s Auto Detailing, which also offers a member discount, is located by the White Oak MVA (near routes 29 and 650). They do not come to you, however.

Should I put some paint protection on my Tesla? What’s the difference between ceramic coating and PPF wrapping?

Like many answers, this will come down to personal preference. Ceramic coating is like a semi-permanent wax that lasts 3-5 years. It certainly helps protect the paint creating a super slick surface that bird droppings and dirt slide off of and generally makes the original color “pop” more, by providing a clear “shield” layer. Paint protection film (PPF) lets you wrap your car with a clear, protective film, or letting you choose an entirely different color, including shimmering ones. You may also choose to pair ceramic coating over PPF to provide years of low maintenance. When installed properly, neither will interfere with AutoPilot radars, cameras, and ultrasound.

Costs will vary depending on which product, which installer, and how much of your Tesla you wish to protect, but can easily run into the few thousand dollar range.

The following vendors have received good reviews from the Maryland Tesla community. Note that Tesla Owners Club of Maryland does not offer any endorsement by mentioning these vendors. Other members have recommended them, your experiences may vary.
